Life Is Not ALWAYS Black And White (Trend Alert #4)

Life isn't always black and white. There are shades of gray, 50 to be exact. No, I'm just kidding, but it takes a lot of time to separate and notice those shades of gray. We kind of love that definite answer; black and white, "yes" and "no", up and down, when in reality you can be up, but hanging upside down. Does that mean you're up or down?
The past two days I was depressed. I was angry because I wasn't getting a definite answer from the universe. What I didn't realize was that "yes" and "no" are beautiful wonderful answers, but they can't answer "why?", and they never will be able to. Instead of asking "is it...?", and "does he....?", I kept asking questions like "Why do I..?" "Why does he not..?". Truth is that if I had wanted to get a definite answer, I wouldn't have asked those confusing question. I would have found better questions, definite questions that can be answered with either a "yes" or a "no".
I just didn't want a definite answer. I wanted a "maybe", an "I don't know", and the forever loved "it might take some time". I wasn't honest with myself, because I wanted the dishonest answer. I wanted to think there's a chance we'll ever end up together. I wanted to think I'm his only one. I wanted to think he is  different to what he is in reality. But things don't work out that way.
I realized I need to change the way I think about it. It has dawned on me that I have.. Real strong feelings for him. I refused to say that I am in love with him, because that's weakness in my eyes. But then a good good childhood friend of mine came to me with an honest answer. She said a definite answer to an indefinite question, because she knew it would hurt more to keep being delusional, than to actually know the answer. She told me I will keep feeling stuff for him until the end of the year, when we will both part ways practically forever. I will go to one college and he will go to another, and... That's how it's going to be.
And then it dawned upon me. On one hand, I want him out of my life so that I can move on, but on the other hand I almost tear up at the thought of us parting ways forever, and I would rather watch him make out with thirty more girls than to never have him in my life again, even if it means I'll never actually have a hold on him. They say you know you love a person when you can't imagine your life without them... Well, I can, I really can, but every body part of mine doesn't want to accept it.
So life is both black and white, I want him as far away from me as possible so that I can forget him, but I also want him as close to me as possible, so that I will never have to say goodbye. It's not really that life is gray, it's just that the black and white live together like a checkered board.
"Does he love me?", "yes, he does". "Does he love others?", "yes, very much". "Does he care for me?", "yes, yes he does". "Does he care for others?" "yes, he does, with all his heart". "Will he ever want to hurt me?", "oh God no". "Did he ever?", "hell yea".
So I think I better define this indefinite story. I love him. I probably will always have some kind of feeling for him. I don't ever want to tell him, but I hope that I will someday, because it's weighing down my chest when I walk past him, and when he looks me in the eyes with his beautiful blue eyes, and the most when he touches me. I don't think we'll ever be together, and it hurts in every bone in my body. I never want to say goodbye, but I know that I will have to soon. I will have to love him from afar, because I have a feeling that other wise I might jump him, or burst. And it will go away, even if that's the last thing I want. I will not prevent myself from living on the life I am supposed to have. I will go to all the parties that I want to go to in spite of the fact that he'll surely be there, and be there with another girl, at that. Because I need that pain, and I need to have it go away, and it will in the end.
This spring, much like life, is all about the combination of black and white, and making them work together side by side. Although the look is amazingly classy and clean, it can be a bit boring. So here are some items that will help you create an interesting monochromatic look:

1. The easiest way to make an interesting black and white outfit is by wearing a dress. It's a no fuss kind of outfit. It's summery, breezy, and easy. This dress from Freepeople.com is a perfect combination of black and white. The black lace gives off a sexy feel, and the soft lace detailing at the bottom and the cut at the bottom make it super feminine and soft. It can be dressed up with heels and a clutch for a cocktail party, or dress it down with a chambray top and even low top converse for a casual day.

2. Another easy way is to incorporate different textures into the outfit to make it a little more interesting. A good example is leather (faux leather) shorts into the outfit. They give a little edge and a different texture like these from Urbanoutfitters.com. Another option for texture is a light weight cable knit sweater like this one from Topshop.com
that has amazing knitted detailing.

3. Third way to do this in a more interesting way is studding or embellishments. Things like these shorts from Pullandbear.com that are embroidered beautifully, and are light and breezy and comfortable for even the sweatiest of days, because they don't stick. Another pair of interesting shorts is this one from Hm.com. It's not just a regular studded pair of shorts. There are different kinds of studs on it and even skull studs, but subtle ones so that it's not too dark.

4. Last way to incorporate it through clothes is by wearing distinguishable patterns. A lovely trend is crazy pants. I found a pair in Zara.com that I absolutely love, the print is so beautiful and different. I really like the way it looks from afar and from close up. Another cool pattern is the window pane pattern that was all over runways and is perfect, and is displayed through this blazer from Forever21.com . Not only do I love the pattern, but it an easy thing to style up or down. It's great for chilly spring days.

Burrrr-gundy (Trend Alert #3)

Hello hello my precious jewels,
How is our week starting out? I had quite the interesting day. I met a few really nice girls through an activity, and that's one of the things I love most.

Anyways, what we are really hear to talk about is about the fall-winter color this season. To be honest it's been here last fall-winter season as well. It is, as guessed by the title, burgundy. Deep wine reds, blood reds, and plumy reds are all welcome this season. The warmth festivity of this color brings the slightest pop of color into the regular neutral fall outfits. It's been seen on the runways in almost every big name designer's show. One of my personal favorites is Sophie Theallet's dress that's shown to the right. It is so sexy, feminine, and yet quite wearable for a designer piece. This shade is rather more of a crisp cherry red, and this entire piece seems to be inspired by an Indian Sari perhaps, which I love. Another Favorite is Jason Wu's cape shown to the left. It's a much deeper, more purple toned, wine shade, and the lace detailing on the shoulders is just so sexy and precious, also quite wearable.
Obviously, to me at least, most people can't really afford to pay for such designer items. What can we do about it? What can we do about it? Oh, yea, there are some other companies that makes clothes on earth that are far less expensive.
Here are a few less expensive options:
American Eagle Outfitters' burgundy corduroy pants. I love the uber skinny cut on these. I think that their deep unusual color for a pant is very flattering. You can cuff the ends even to make it look like it's elongating your legs. It's not the brightest burgundy so it plays off pretty neutral, or neutral enough to put it together with almost every color you want.

Another more lively choice would be a sweater from Forever 21. I love that it looks like a wafer knitting. It looks real warm and soft for winter and can be layered on top of a collared shirt to make it a little more preppy. love this color, which is a bit more on the orange side than the previous true plum red.


Another option is this short sleeved sweater from Pac Sun. It has a really burnt red, and tribally feel to it, which, you probably know by now, I am head over heels for. It suits the people who live in the warmer climates, much like myself, and still want to wear the fall trends.

A pop of color option for an outfit could be this leather clutch from urban Outfitters. I personally don't feel the most comfortable with leather-y things, but I mean if you do, by all means, this clutch is a gorgeous, very wearable piece.



A favorite from the list to me is this warm jacket by Topshop. It is a really dark, almost brown, shade of burgundy, oxblood, whatever you call it. It reminds me a lot of my rain coat, which is basically the same, but is in gray, which I love.

Now that you see all the options, look in your closet, or your mom's, or you sister's, or whomever's, maybe even you brother or boyfriend, and search for a little something burgundy to add to your outfit. Might end up looking gorgeous.

Studtastic (Trend Alert #2)

Hello girls.
I have a fashion trend for this fall today. As you might have guessed from the title it is spikes and studs. This year the army and even punk looking clothes and accessories have really made a stamp all over stores and designers all over the globe.
I personally adore the trend because I think it can kick every outfit up a notch. It can spice the girlies of outfits up and make something glamorous look so freaking edgy and beautiful. Some twist not many people would expect.
Now there are way to go big with the trend and there are ways to go small. I'm always up for the less is WAY WAYYYY more. In my opinion having only one item studded is the best and is far better looking than having your entire outfit spiked up like mad.
There's also cheaper things, and much more expensive alternatives, depends on how much you want to put into it.
Here are a few ideas:

For the girls that are quite timid of this trend, but still like it, just not on themselves, a great way to do it is with dainty jewelry that have studs on them.

One option is this pack of three pairs from Topshop. These are really quite small, but when your hair is up they can take a lace shirt and jeans to the next level, which I think is what jewelery and other accessories were created for. You also get three color meaning you can match them up with every outfit, literally.
Another option from a rather more high street brand like Forever 21 makes stud stud earrings (if that makes any sense at all), and they also make them in rose gold, which seems to be very popular these days.

For the more daring girls I would go for some necklace or larger studded accessory like this golden purse from Urban Outfitters. It is still very girlie and fun, but it has these edgy edges (no pun intended). I love the Egyptian vibe it gives.
Another option is this beautiful colorful spikes and skulls necklace by Pull&Bear, which I personally adore. I wanted to see silver statement jewelery for so long now, getting tired of the gold, and this look like it, and ever better than I had expected. Absolutely stunning in my opinion.

A higher end item that I have been eying forever now, but don't have the money or the courage to wear, not only because of the studs are the Sam Edelman Lorissa heels. Stinking amazingness in a cup! I cannot help but gasp at the sight of a woman wearing these. They are super duper delicious. Don't try to eat them, though. I have a feeling it might hurt. A less riskayyy version are his Joss booties. I love them even more I would think. Absolutely stunning colors for fall, and better suited for fall over all, as we know. I love them. I might even save up enough to buy them someday, but right now let's focus on other things.

You can also opt for studded clothes:

This vest from River Island for example falls amazingly with all trends: army, layering, and studding. Love how subtle it is. Not too much going on, but it is amazingly beautiful. I love that it accents the collar, which has also been a great trend that came in from last fall/winter season, into spring/summer, and now into fall/winter again.

Two much more subtle options are both of these sheer blouses by Zara. The black one has quite the traditional collar studding going on even thought the studs are a little different. It's very sheer so it's still good for fall layering.
The white one on the other hand is in my opinion much more intricate and sophisticated. The pearl studding, and the little white to sheer pleats are so beautiful and classy. It has a wow factor and it is more suited for a work environment than some of the other things we've seen.

The Crown Jewel (Trend Allert! Chapter1)

Hey girls,
today I have a beauty trend for the fall and winter. This trend comes around almost every cold season, and to be honest, there are times when it's beautiful, but there are times when it's simply too much.
The trend is jewel tones. Jewel tones worn on nails, lips, and eyes. Let's take a closer look at this trend.

So, what are jewel tones? They are, quite obviously, shades inspired by certain jewels or gems found in nature- hence they are quite natural toned down colors. There are many shades on the blue turquoise green range that go hand in hand with Emerald, Turquoise, and Lapis, many red warm burgundy shades that resemble Jasper and Ruby, and some really neutral nude-ish colors like Quartz, Moss Agate, and Rose Quartz, as well as some more purple tones like Sugilite, Lace Agate, and Amethyst. Basically a variety of shades that are either really deep, or really light and toned down.
For all the recommendations below there are plenty of dupes that you can find in different qualities and price ranges.Try and look through you collection to see if you can find something to match the trend first to see if you even like the colors.
In nails:

Lace Agate shade- China Glaze's Secret Peri-Wink-Le. To make it look even more jewel inspired you can top it with a metallic white or champagne shade.

Amethyst shade- Dutch You Love OPI by, surprisingly enough, OPI. I love the entire collection, but this is a nice deep purple shade for autumn.

Jasper shade- Knees Up by Butter London. This is a really cute Christmas-y red color that's great for winter and fall. 

Emerald shade- Stylenomics by Essie. Beautiful deep crisp green. Kind of Christmasy as well.

Tiger's Eye shade- The "It" Color by OPI. A mustard color that reminds me of fallen leaves.

Ruby shade- Illamasqua's Vice. It is a deep cranberry shade that is so girly and festive.

Quartz/Pyrite shade- Thrustafarian by Butter London. This shade is gorgeous. It's a sage green shimmery color. Very neutral and matches everything.

Sugilite shade- Nails inc.'s Houses of Parliament magnetic polish. The effect makes it look very similar, and is all over very cool.

Turquoise shade- Go On Green by OPI. Great shade for fall, spring and summer. Love it.


Rose Quartz shade- oddly enough I couldn't find something that's similar enough, but this color is an over all great color for this fall, and even for French manicure. This is Don't Pretzel My Button by OPI.

Lips: in lips the color variation is still limited for jewel tones, but they can still be played out.

Rose Quartz-Coconutty by MAC. It is beautiful in the tube, but since I have never personally tried it I fear that it might be a bit of a mature color. Try it out first, if you consider the purchase.


Ruby shade- Ruby Woo by MAC. I love this color and I think it matches a lot of different skin tones. Very appropriate name, as well.

Jasper shade- Russian Red by MAC. A very very deep red. Deeper than Ruby Woo, and more blue toned I would think.

Carnelian shade- Soul Mate by Sephora, which is a cranberry color that looks absolutely gorgeous for a vampy lip.










 Amethyst shade- Voluptuous Violet by Clinique. Gorgeous purple. 







Sugilite shade- Embrace by Covergirl. Looks absolutely divine!








Eyes: There are infinite choices. Really, you could go for a plum colored or Turquoise colored mascara or eyeliner. Here are a few options.
Purple shade- Kate Von D's Sinner pallete.

Overall jewel shades- Smashbox's Trio in Oyster, Zoom, and Royal

Watch Your Back

Hello hello pretty things.
How did your weekend go? Hopefully fantastic. Since today has been a great day, and generally in the past week things have been looking up, I decided I would do a really short talk and then get down to fashion business.
I finished another test today, and I think it went well. I got a good grade on my chemistry test, which is definitely cheerful considering I had THE hardest time studying for that one. I have a math test on Wednesday, which is huge, but I'm calm and I will do great. My guy friend and I are doing alright, better than a few days ago. Guys are still not really on my To *urgently* Do list (see what I did there?), but that is also OK, because that is the choice I made for the sake of myself, and I still find it's the healthiest state of mind I've been in with the whole "men" subject. Let's just say that a lot of weight has been lifted of my shoulders.


Speaking of which, today I'm going to talk about my favorite style of bags. Being a student, and a tall one at that, my back is pretty darn screwed up. I mean I carry so much to school, and my tall structure doesn't hold up all too well. Carrying a messenger bag or a purse to school would be really unhealthy for me, and a regular sports-y backpack is just... Not the greatest looking thing.
Thank the person who brought fashionable backpacks back into fashion, I can carry a handy dandy handsome backpack on shoulders and feel cool without looking like a complete dork. They might not be everyone's cup of tea, but they are cute, supportive, and useful.
Some of my favorites that I've found from different stores in different price ranges: 
From Freepeople.com: Two beautiful ideas, but as freepeople usually are, they are a little pricey. Every girl and her price tag. The leather one is gorgeous, but I fear it's real leather, and I don't do too well with that plus it's like $528.......HELLOOO BIG NUMBERS. Not my piece of cake, but, hey, no judgements.
The tribal print backpack is a better choice in my opinion but still pretty expensive, rated at $178, which is better, but still.

From Urbanoutfitters.com: Two more beautiful backpacks. The first one is a MUCH cheaper alternative for the Freepeople tribal print one, which costs $59. I'm only showing you a few options, so bare it in mind that each store has many more to offer in other styles, but these are my favorites from each (with the exception of the leather one that if it were to be faux leather I would love it, but it isn't). The next one is a hard to describe one. It has all sorts of shapes on it with a splash of mint, which is the second or third favored color this season, after tangerine orange and rose gold. This one I think is the cheapest one out of all priced at $49.

From Topshop.com: Is a lonely backpack. This is the only one I found to be close to my taste, but obviously you can go there and check for yourselves if there's something better than that. It's floral, which is lovely for the summer. This one is priced at $68.







I must give it to Asos.com for having the best selection out of all these websites:  The first one is the neon detailed tribal print one to the side that is simply... GORGEOUS, in my opinion at least. The print, the neon, the shape. Ohhhh, es perfecto. It is priced at $69.58. The next one is that black and white one that has a whole lot of little drawings as its pattern. I love it a little less than the last one, but it's beautiful. It's $121.77, which is PRICEY, but, yet again, whatever you like.
The next one is so super duper cute! It's this coral color with the structured look and a scalloped edge that makes it girly and adorable. Seriously I'm in love with it. It is $60.88, and IT'S NOT LEATHER :D! Last but not least, yet another adorable one from ASOS is this navy one with orange detailing. I have no idea why I like it so much, but it just looks like a little face, and that is so cute! But it's $187.87 soooo. Meh.




One that I found on Ebay.com is this cute floral one. It's not exactly my favorite, but I thought it would be nice to see a cheaper alternative. I don't know how much I trust things I find on ebay, but you girls go ahead, if it suits you well. It is $28.99.

 This song was introduced to me when I watched Kyle XY last week. I started watching it because I had nothing to watch. It is SUCH a good movie. It is going to be in my favorites this month. Here's Save You by Matthew Perryman Jones whom I love for his song called Amelia that I think I have posted here in the past, if not, will post soon :D
